The Belue family has been farming the Appalachian foothills of Tishomingo County in Northeast Mississippi since 1832. Now in the eigth generation, there are five farms owned and operated by Shelia Belue; her sons, James T. and Tim; and their families. The farm on Panther Creek near Paden Mississippi is the homeplace of James N., now deceased, and Shelia. This 192 acre farm is in the production of registered Polled Hereford cattle and hardwood timber. The Claunch Place Farm is in Southern Pine timber production. Both are located adjacent to the Divide Section Wildlife Refuge. The 55 acre farm on South Fork Branch near Tishomingo is the hay production farm for the family. Excess hay is sold locally. A three acre corner of the farm is used for other crops such as corn, watermelon, cantalope, and pumpkins in rotation.
Tim and his wife Deborah Belue own and operate Belue Ridge Stables farm near Dennis, Mississippi. Their equestrian facilities are for owned animals which are shown by Dakota Lane Belue. Dakota has many awards for her horsemanship including several local, region, and state championships.
Twin Springs farm near Tishomingo in the Highland community consisting of 85 acres is owned by James T. and Dale Belue. Production on the farm is polled hereford cattle and hardwood timber. The home and gardens, Belle Vesta, were damaged by tornadoes between December of 2019 and March of 2020 and are still under reconstruction. Children Nathan, Sara, and Kerry are grown, but little people Millie, Evie, Kylie and Jonah are still at helping feed the cattle and tending crops.
